Teign Housing: Brand Identity

The Client

Teign Housing is a housing association who manages over 3,600 homes across South Devon. This includes rural areas such as Teignmouth, Dawlish and Newton Abbot and as far out as Dartmoor National Park.

The Challenge

Chalk & Ward Advertising were asked to review the Teign Housing branding in preparation for their 10 year Anniversary taking place in February 2014.

We recommended a Brand Essence Workshop to clearly define what Teign Housing stands for and to ensure a consistent message is continually delivered to the target audience moving forward. The Brand Essence also offered us guidance and focus to produce a tangible brand solution. This needed to work across the main Teign Housing service and the TeignCare sub brand which offers personal alarms and home visits to those less able.

The Brand Essence Workshop took place in October 2013 at Teign Housing’s Head Office in Newton Abbot and was attended by 6 key members of the Teign Housing team who were involved in establishing the fundamental message the brand stood for.

The Result: Brand Identity

Reviewing what was defined in the Workshop, Chalk & Ward Advertising proceeded with creating a new Brand Identity. This included supplying the client with several logo options which were deemed appropriate for the business and brand based on what had come from the Workshop.

The final version chosen was represented with a word mark and heart-shaped symbol characterizing a house and included the new strapline – Creating Futures Together. Once the logo had been agreed, a new suite of collateral and literature was designed and developed to reflect the new branding. This was then extended to the TeignCare sub brand to link the brands together but maintain a differentiation.

The final result is an extensive range of fresh and dynamic items inclusive of banners, brochures, leaflets and internal stationery which signifies exactly what was identified in the Brand Essence Workshop and more importantly, resulted in a very happy client.
