Devon’s best day out

Crealy Theme Park & Resort is an award winning family Theme Park in Devon that boasts more than 60 rides and attractions with live entertainment shows and animals.

High Dive Summer Show 2017

We were first approached to work with Crealy on a PR project basis, starting with their inaugural Arctic Olympic Games High Dive Show in the summer of 2017. The aerial stunt show featured a cast of international record-breaking divers freefalling in perfect synchronisation from a platform over 85ft high into a pool less than five metres deep.

Chalk + Ward were responsible for creating a PR strategy around the event, planning the media launch, writing press releases and ensuring Crealy gained significant media coverage in the run up to and during the event. The event received high levels of engagement on social media and was broadcast as a news item on ITV, achieving record numbers of attendance at the Park.

Halloween 2017

Our Halloween 2017 strategy had a great idea at its core – that of a burial chamber being discovered in the grounds of Crealy near the Creaky Hotel. Chalk + Ward developed the storyboard and managed the shoot for a spoof video which ran on the website and social media. At the time it was Crealy’s largest viewed video to date (34k views) and resulted in 206 reactions, 151 comments and 73 shares and when coupled with a spoof press release to all local press, the scene was set for an eerie time at Crealy!

From January 2018, we were taken on by Crealy on a retainer basis, increasing our scope and capability to provide ongoing profile raising ideas and to gain media coverage both regionally and nationally.

We provide strategic PR plans for Crealy’s main events including half terms, Easter, summer holidays, Halloween and Christmas. We organise press trips and reviews in regional and national media, and with online bloggers and influencers. We also provide crisis communications as and when necessary.

A spectacular Christmas

Another notable success was the PR surrounding Crealy’s Christmas Spectacular in November/December 2018. It was the biggest Christmas event that Crealy have ever put on and one of the main features was an ice show, thought to be the first of its kind in the South West. Chalk + Ward organised the press launch event and worked with bloggers to write reviews and run a competition. Crealy was also the main sponsor for Exeter City Centre’s Christmas light switch on and we worked alongside Exeter BID and their PR agency to ensure Crealy got good coverage. The Christmas Spectacular was a great success and will be even bigger and better in 2019!
